TKN’s Guide To Racism: 2020

I was watching CNN this morning, November 3rd, 2020, and Kasich was talking about only a “little slice” of America was racist. There is no single definition of racism that clearly unveils the different types of people and the particular set of behaviors that slot them into a class. How can we work on the seething mass of deeply nested issues if we don’t have a framework through which we can understand “the racist” and, ultimately, how to start fixing the underlying causes?

Then it hit me; we have no guide to racism. So, I’ve created one.

AApex PredatorsThese racists are full-blown haters. They may be observed wearing bed sheets, burning crosses, marching with spooky tiki torches, murdering people with cars and/or underage kids with assault rifles, working towards the complete dissolution of American Democracy, etc. This group operates as both the leadership and front line troops of America’s institutional racism infrastructure.
BBulliesThese racists are the distributors of racists ideologies, the bosses who define racist policies, the powerful leaders of “think tanks” that generate and share racist dogma, the loudest voices of their racist movement, and the like. This groups operates as the sales and marketing team for America’s institutional racism infrastructure.
CCapitalistsCapitalist racism isn’t always about color, but it is ALWAYS about money. These “racists” engage in behaviors that extract wealth and potential wealth from lower income sectors to inflate their own portfolios well beyond levels they will ever consume in their lifetimes. This is the nervous system of America’s institutional racism infrastructure, providing all of the fiscal muscle the system requires.
DDicksThese people perch on the bottom rung of the racism ladder. They tend to remain anonymous on the internet, spread misinformation, share Qanon theories, yell at people on the streets and in stores, and just talk shit about POC on a consistent basis. These are the grunts in the trenches of the race war they are eager to foment. Dicks form the overall mass of America’s institutional racism infrastructure.
FThe Feckless*These are people of any descent who, through no direct fault of their own, have been taught and engage in unintended bias behaviors. Their unintentional, abstract racism is the bedrock of America’s institutional racism infrastructure.

This chart may need a completely different scale in order to be its most efficient.

Now, I want to make it perfectly clear that this grading chart does not absolve ANYONE of racism. While I don’t believe we can wipe out racism altogether, I am firmly convinced that we can reduce it through education, common public services, and universal egalitarianism guided by the principle of the absolute Definition of Humanity.

Definition of Humanity (DoH): That which, based entirely in science and observed consistently throughout the world, defines any and all living persons as Human Beings, regardless of shape, size, color, or any cultural specifics.

This information, in it’s initial form, is designed to be a guide that will allow us to identify racist types and develop a framework of processes and policies that disallows them from reshaping America in their image. I’m quite confident in the belief that most Americans would be most happy if they could just get on with their lives. This group even includes many Feckless, as they simply operate based on what they’ve been taught.

Through education and exposure, the Feckless can learn to understand what they’ve been doing that hurts others, and hopefully move beyond that. This is reconciliation, and it’s a big part of what we need since the Civil War was never fully litigated.

For the more “troubled” we need a complete operational framework that incorporates open education in the real history of America’s founding and timeline until now, philosophy & ethics, lots of reading, public service, and exposure to cultures that they do not understand, we need to define racial violence as terrorism, we need to level the access playing field so that everyone gets a shot, we need to eliminate homelessness, destigmatize drug use and increase drug safety testing, access to clean products, and assistance for people who want to quit, reduce the overall prison population to just those who commit violent crime, and so much more.

So, that’s all I’ve got right now, but this will grow. Over time. And with your participation.

SIDENOTE: I've noted the Racism Guide and DoH as Creative Commons. I'd like to see these standardized over time and after much refinement, and the only way to do that is to make it open source. Personally, I advocate for everything to be made open source, but that's another article. In the interim, we need to start somewhere, so this is it.
